College Democrats of America mourns the passing of Shannon Barber

WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 17, 2020) — The College Democrats of America released the following statement on the passing of beloved College Democrat Shannon Barber:

“It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of College Democrats of South Carolina Membership Director Shannon Barber. Shannon passed away on June 16 due to a recent health issue. Shannon was a light and reminded us all to always fight for equality.

“During her time with us, Shannon was an extraordinary leader and always fought for justice. Shannon served as the president of the Winthrop University College Democrats, and the Membership Director of the College Democrats of South Carolina, which she was recently reelected as in April.

“Shannon reminded all of us that we could make a difference and that a more equal, fair world is possible. Shannon will truly be missed and we mourn her tremendous loss. Please keep Shannon’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.”
